Internet Explorer doesn't read my svg animation coding?

So i was playing around with svg animation and I tested it Internet Explorer. I usually test my coding in Internet Explorer as I don't use it for anything (besides installing chrome ofcourse), anyway, i spent 30mins trying to figure out the problem. I then decided to open the coding in Google Chrome and what do you know, the coding worked! So .... My question is why did Internet Explorer read the svg coding and is this something i can work around in the future?
