How did you focus on a specific programming language or web technology?
I am diving into the different languages and technologies. It's exciting to learn how they work or work together and it's nice to learn something new everyday. But if I had to decide today which one I enjoy the most, I could not easily make a choice. So, how did you choose?

I tried with C in college, it was boring.
(Or maybe I was not that interested)
Then I tried C++, it was tough!
Learning C++ is easy, but to learn C++ to use it practically requires heavy lifting.
Then I tried Java for making an Android app, it was fun but didn't went deep. (Got scared of OOP🤗)
Then I tried JavaScript, it was so fun.
Playing with DOM, AJAX and events taught me asynchronous paradigm. Playing with canvas graphics helped me with implementing logic. Then I went deeper in JS with Node to break free from browser (best decision ever)
with JavaScript for the first time I was able to comprehend OOP and functional programming.
Note: JS is not a good OOP language inherently, but it gets the job done.
Then I started learning C#.
CONCLUSION: after knowing one language very well (JS), I feel I can learn any language now and C/C++ doesn't seem that tough.
So JS is a good entry level language.
after Learning 1(any ) language very well, u ll see the similarities & Weirdness in all.

It depends on where you want to apply your programming knowledge.

Its really very difficult to choose anyone language. But, u need to ask yourself what u want to do in the future. It will help u in determining.

Could not easily make choice!! Trust me I have been there.. it was never easy.. until you realize every programming language are connected together..
Like a plain walk or, cycle, motorbike, car, van, truck, SUV, lcv, truck bus train, aeroplane, boat.. all vehicles are used to travel so that may reach destination.. all are fun as well to ride.. but we choose sensibly depending upon where we go, how fast we go, when we go, ...
Likewise the languages are.. but they all have common connection.
if you are a beginner like me... I would suggest you to choose one and master it and have knowledge in others too..
Happy coding..!

First you need to decide what you want to learn . That depends on your interests & inclination towards that specific domain.
Once you choose a language..
Start from the basics & be thorough through the theory as well as the practical.

For me my first job required php... so php I learned. Picked up javascript along the way. Added MySQL when a need for arose. Lately I've added SASS, Ionic, Angular, RxJS, and now I've discovered a need for Python and TensorFlow. You go with what you need at the time to get the job done. There is no best programming language. They are tools to help you get something done.

Yeah I completely agree and understand. I started to learn Java first and it felt like remembering the syntax, instead of actually know why. Then i learned c++ and OOP and gained a much better grasp of how every thing works. Afterwards i picked up c# quite quickly which is now my favourite language.
Recently I thought I would try and learn Java again and as you can guess it all makes so much sense too me now.
So like you said after learning one language very well u will the similarities in all

By learning it .
