Actually I need to build a website which users can create accounts and they can complete tasks given in the website and they are being ranked according to no/ of tasks they've done.
A site like Google - code in .

How can I get started and what are the technologies I need to know ?

Do you know html, css, Javascript, PhP etc.? If not, do the tutorials here as a starting point.

You need to know html, css, js, php and sql as prerequisite.
