Python is very well designed from scratch, with a well thought idea and a coherent implementation. JavaScript, on the other hand, was created and implemented on a rush, with many inconsistencies and early design decisions that made it a pain in the ass to work with for many years.
Its syntax is more English-like an easier in the eye.
It's multiparadigm and lets you start with a procedural approach while learning, little by little, other approaches such as OOP and functional, for which it's very well suited. JavaScript instead is a functional language disguised of C. It takes some time to wrap your head around callbacks.
