How do you gain work experience in SQL? Will learning online and gaining a Microsoft Certification be enough to be hired?
My Bachelor's Degree didnt offer any coursework in SQL (Business Administration). I have decided I want to work with Data and I've gotten accepted to earn an MBA in Data Analytics but as far as I can tell I don't see any real way to apply for a job in data entry without experience. I am worried an online certification, or simply learning it won't be enough for employers.

That might be possible if you can prove your knowledge at the interview.

Tyler Busby A Microsoft Certification might carry some weight for Microsoft Gold Partners. These companies require a certain ratio of developers to have MCSDs, etc.
However, those certifications aren't for beginners. They typically reflect people with solid experience.
I've interviewed plenty of people with certs and it was obvious they had no clue about the content in those tests. It's likely they studied from sources that provided answers or took the tests enough times to eventually pass. In these cases, it's not worth the costs. It's fine if you can pass the cert exams on your first attempts. However, they won't carry weight until you complete a full track.
Perhaps competing the skills tracks on PluralSight might be better. The training in PluralSight and Udemy are solid, from what I've evaluated myself.

In short, certification does not necessarily imply ability. Engage yourself on practical projects based on your planned career path.

is it worth spending the money to get a Microsoft certification? Or other online certificate ?
