Is it a good idea learning python being a beginner?

I have had an aproach to another languages like C++ and Java but nothing realy serious and deep, but with python i had the oportunity of use it in my university intern period for a real life project, but having another job in another area i don't use python (even any program language) daily. The real question is: Could Python teach me with the same quality like a traditional programming language does? Thanks for reading... regards.

I think Python it's perfect for newbies: it's interpreted (does not require a compiler), easy to learn, and lets coders to focus on problem solving, which is probably the most rewarding part of programming.
