BIOLOGY & CHEMISTRY ๐ค
I am a highschool student... I have to take 3 science ( biology, chemistry and physics) in order to graduate. How does biology and chemistry are useful to a computer science student? ๐ค As a computer science student, studying biology and chemistry are useless ?๐ค *If anyone see similar question please link it ๐* Thank you ๐๐ค

Mr. ๐range It's about expanding your mind beyond just coding.
Whether it's building applications for for research, finding a cure, collecting data, education, etc a programmer will need to have some understanding of these subjects to implement code for such applications.
It's also about improving one's capacity to learn differently, to gain exposure to other disciplines of study to further enrich how they might solve problems beyond imperative logic.
While I personally did not enjoy chemistry or biology myself, I took every opportunity to get the most out of my classes.
In this sense, knowledge is power and you never know how it can lead to new innovative thinking. So, don't limit yourself, open your mind.

There is ALWAYS a link, sometimes you just need to find it out.
Physics for instance is necessary to build quantum computers (the next generation computers). Some Artificial Intelligence algorithms are inspired by neural networks (which is a biology subject...)
When you master more than one field, your creativity can lead you wherever you want.

Bioinformatics is related to both biology and computer science

You wanna be a computer science student. What do you intend to do with that knowledge then? For example, you are already a pro to all computer languages, then what for?
Many clients in sciences need that skill...
*biology-in the field of molecular genetics, they need something that can store all information about loci of every chromosomes and can be easily accessible ... and many others
* chemistry- given the fact that there are a lot of compound natural and artificial... if fact there is an infinite number of compounds that can be made by the combination of elements. They also need a data base for that. They also need a something that can bombard atom with high efficiency to generate radioisotopes that can be used to treat cancer and only a comsci can make a program intended to that but you need knowledge inchemistry tomake it.
*physics- programmers in NASAneed a full blown knowledge of physics in order to make a software about universe
So how are you gonna make a project without knowing these basic science

"As a computer science student, studying biology and chemistry are useless"
What if you were born to be a biologist or chemist? a lot of people end up working in a field far from their interests, why should you close the door on these knowledge when you don't know what potency you might have in them? what if you were destined to be a star in biology or chemistry but you lose the chance over this "useless" belief?

Then learn for your knowledges, every subjects is useful for life.โบ๐

David Carroll thanks you ๐ I'm a highschool student btw ๐
just asked because I have to select classes for next year... confused what science to take ๐

Mr. ๐range That makes more sense. I've removed the mfd tag for now.
I couldn't say which between these two classes to take. They were both required for me, many, many years ago. If you had to pick one, I felt biology was easier, but chemistry was more interesting.
You'll do more math in chemistry and more memorization in biology.
If physics is an option, that would be my pick as it will have more in common with programming if you ever get into working with game engines.

Mr. ๐range Now I would like to help u out๐ and I am also a high school student๐ like u.
See The main thing is to find ur passion . If u r interested in coding then u should take CS and for that u need maths.
But to sove this problem ,We Have Biotechnology .
Biotechnology is and emerging field in biology (not so develeoped in India) . Biotech also includes Genetic engineering.
But it will include to a small extent of coding.
And if u r interested in coding , then u should take CS and maths.
I want to become an AI engineer and to take admission in MIT.
After taking bio , there is no use of CS , and u can take hindi or physical so that it will give u a chance to increase ur board marks as the paper will be easy.
Thus it all depends upon u .
Thanks

One of my friend is a bio student + a good coder..
She is placed in one of the good MNC.
So ya everything is possible

David Carroll oh... Sorry if I confused you...
I send more information about this in your privite message...
Please check if you have any time ๐

Ipang I also took honors biology... I learned nothing that related to Programming... we just learned about plants, humans, animals, bacteria etc... ๐
For me computer related subject is way more interesting than anyother subject ๐ *I like math too*

I no longer respond to DMs these days because there are so many requests it would become a full time job to keep up with. So... I only respond in public posts. ๐
I think my previous answers cover my thoughts. Hopefully they are helpful. ๐
