personaly, I started with 2d WebGL games made in Unity3d. Games are programmed using C# but you can use javascript if you wish. I learned it around two years before I made a small game, which I published a month ago. Unity is simple enough to be able to learn basics in a few weeks and also big enough to make big games. Have in mind that I am still in highschool so I learned Unity only on weekends and on school break and I also stopped a and went back to it a lot. If you really want to learn it you can learn the basics in a month or so. Youtubers whose videos can help you are brackeys, blackthornprod, dani and etc.
