Can I learn JavaScript without HTML or CSS?

JavaScript is a very interesting language and I'm looking to learn it. Does it require me to learn HTML or CSS?

You can start with js and then step by step learn html + css

it is basically a frontend and backend language on the web. JavaScript operates just elements placed in html files, so I think the basics of these two technologies should be studied
