What is the difference between HTML and PHP?

HTML is a markup language. It generates the contents that we see on a webpage. But PHP is a server-side programming language which is mostly used to handle variables that are passed by the forms

Html is used to create the basic structure of the page while php is used as a backend server

HTML is a markup language that generates the content you see on page. php is a back end server language so it handles databases and the like. it can respond to a request and send back HTML but HTML cannot do the reverse. so where HTML is a markup language php is a full blown programming language

HTML is a markup language, it is also called as the language of the internet as every page on the internet is written in HTML. PHP on the other hand is an object oriented programming language. It can be used as back-end for websites and web applications. Facebook is created using PHP.
