Every program is different, so it will rarely be possible to list exactly what purpose any part of a language has.

The different commands etc. are more like ingredients, which you can cook up to all sorts of programming meals.

You need to practice with simple and gradually harder tasks, then after a while it will *occur* to you which tool to use, when and how.

It's a long process, and there's no shortcut. Just study and practice writing code!
