Of course it does. It avoids unnecessary efforts and makes everything easier. DRY and KISS make your life as software engineer easier, independent from your role. Guess you have a really big project, of millions of lines of code - each redundancy wouldn't be a real mess then. Just keep it simple, stupid and dry! It's a quality characteristic.
