Kali Linux is just one distros from many other Linux distros like Ubuntu, parrot, pepper mint, Linux mint,... There is a wide variety of Linux distros and each specializes in something different from each other, but share one goal which is the user control of their own computer /phone / device...
Kali Linux is the first distro used for hacking and got it's fame mainly for that.
But for me it's a bit heavier in speed processing in comparison to some distros such as linux mint Wich is the distro that I chose to use
In short sorry if this answer got a bit long but hope I was a bit helpful enough, didn't want to dig more into details about distros
