Which programming languages must I learn to be able to pursue my doctoral research in Data Science?

I have completed my Masters Degree in CS and wants to do a genuine Research on Data Science. Since I am new to the field, I want to polish my skills in programming courses that are related to Data Science. Your timely suggestions are welcomed. :)

Spark is written in Scala, interoperability is said to be better than with Java or Python.
