I may stop coding for now...

I get stuck sometimes with certain lessons, I’m thinking about studying more and then returning to the app when I have more coding knowledge. Any advice for a beginner and what it was like getting a grip on it at first like the first steps?

What we have here from SoloLearn are the basics, the foundation. I would rather suggest you to review the lesson first rather than jumping elsewhere in attempt to get better understanding. If you still haven't got cleared off the basics, you may find it even harder to continue your quest outside Soloalearn.

Ipang has a great answer to this. Remain optimistic. It’s easy to be discouraged when you think you have a grasp on a concept and find out that you need to learn more or don’t quite understand all of it. We never stop learning as programmers - and being confused or upset is okay. It sometimes takes awhile to grasp some of the concepts if your brand new to it. Look up ideas for beginner programs you can write that will reinforce the basics. I would keep the app - Sololearn is great for learning the foundation of a language. Be realistic in the goals you set - You may be trying to bite off more than you can chew. Start with basic programs that just do little things like print something to the screen or open a file - then move onto something bigger. Lastly, don’t compare yourself to others - we all learn things in our own way, on our own time. Comparing yourself to other programmers, who may be more experienced, is a good way to discourage yourself. I wish you the best of luck in your programming journey
