you can also use proxychains with tor without the browser(on kali linux ) , type in terminal :apt-get install tor ; then service tor start , it will start generating proxychains, to test it open terminal type : [proxychains firefox www.duckduckgo.com(example)] then the duckduck go will open , search DNS leaks , enter the website , itll show you the ip address you are using (it should show you ip addres s from another country ) so that you'll be 80% anonymized .

TOR stands for "The Onion Browser" It anonymizes it's communications, and allows you to access ".onion" websites. Otherwise know as the dark web, due to the fact that it's not mapped by normal search engines. Personally if I was the FBI or NSA or CIA I would focus on this since criminals use it frequently therefore I'm not sure how anonymous it really is.

Normal search engines like Google can access only a small percentage of the entire web. The Tor browser can be used to access the other parts too, but not all though. Most people use Tor for anonymity. Using Tor browser, your actual IP is not visible.
