Are there any technologies that can make web game development easier?

Coding everything with JavaScript in the canvas is kinda hard especially if I want to make a big game, are there any other technologies I am missing or do people code everything?

no, there are game engines, but they require to be learned also ^^

it's up to you to decide to invest time in developing your own game engine or in learning to use one of the game engine available ;P

I like kaboom.js and phaser.io, I may learn them one day. I also want to try to create my own library for games one day but seeing how those two work first could be helpful.
