Just select 3 or 4 colors and use different shades of those colors in your whole website. I have also learnt good color picking tricks from the internet. And always select those colors which doesn't hurt your eyes. Let's say about my struggles. Mostly I have made Windows apps and there is always a problem called "tring to access from different thread". This is so dangerous problem. Making safe threading is very difficult and I didn't knew much about multi threading. Now after searching so much document about multi threading I have finally overcome this problem too. Hooo, What a relief!!!

Cory, I am sure it's not ugly. When choosing colors for a professional design, choose modest colors. For instance, you can never go wrong with a white background. Body text colors should be black. I match my link colors with other design colors. Special notes, and text that are not a part of the bodies text. Light blues, a hint of light red, and light green are comfortable colors. Even a reddish orange to accent the page. Bold colors stick out, but they have their platform too. My suggestion to you is to choose softer colors, and utilize a similar color patter. I would also research soft color patterns to get you started. I hope this helps.
