Start with C# and then look into Unity3D games engine.

Why do You actually advice him a game programming?
There's a lot of better paths in coding.
Or maybe You mean a wide gratification games engine knowledge?

IMO i think You should start with some popular ASM to train thinking.
Focus on full featured mathemetics also - including logic ang group theory, to have a wide look at any problem meet in a programming.
By math You will reduce number of steps by one good scheme.

c++ and c# many games are written in these languages and also Python. and then go for HTML CSS JavaScript jQuery and SQL for web based game application development.

i think html5 has the interface to make web based games. but you should just join a developers bootcamp. www.udemy.com has great materials and instructors. good luck.
