Privare Code sharable links

Hey guys, Just wanted to know what happens if i have a private code and i share its link on the discussion forum or in a comment? Did it once and found that my code was private but now can be accessed by others through the link i shared. Ideally sharing links of private codes should not be allowed as it defeats the purpose. Either that or the code should become public once it is shared. What are your views on this?

Not a bug though. It's a feature. Putting it in private mode simply tells SoloLearn not to include your code in Code Playground display section and your profile code display section. You can still share them by link.

By sharing link of private codes, you disable their voting system ( thumb up/down ) ^^

@visph we can still like or dislike the code but are unable to comment on it. Check out @luca's code in the comment section here

True, but once you share a link anyone can use that link and get your code. So the code is no longer private. Don't you think that it should change to public / shared status? Because i may keep thinking that no one is looking at what i am coding but actually there are people who can access it.

@Klaus-Dieter's and @Hatsy Rei's opinion is convincing...

Private does not mean that the code is not accessible. It simply means that it is not linked and advertised in your profile. Once the link is published (in a discussion), anybody on this site can access it. Private just means that the hash used for the url cannot be guessed easily. This is somewhat similar to how Dropbox links work.

Remember that this is a learning site ;-) It is not a place to store patentable complex business logic, which you might want to keep on your own pc, in your own network, or in a private github repository. Anyway, if you don't share the link to your code on sololearn, the url isn't guessed easily and you are safe enough from peeking eyes. Once you have talked about it and shared the link, your only option to make it invisible again is to save the code under a different hash.
