Tips for first app

Hello guys, I use java for some months now and have done for example a calculator. Now I want to start working on a bigger project like an app. I had the idea to code a to-do-list for android. Do you guys think that's a good idea or is it to difficult or do you have some better ideas for an app? Thanks in advance

Start with a to-do list application as your first big project in Java, especially for Android. I recommend using : Android Studio: Familiarise yourself with Android Studio, the official IDE for Android development. It's powerful and offers lots of tools to help you. It's manageable yet gives you enough challenge to practice core development skills such as UI design, handling user inputs, and managing data. If you find it too straightforward, you could always add more features like reminders, categories, or integration with other services. https://developer.android.com/studio

The best project for you is one that aligns with your interests, expertise and goals. The idea is good, at least you gain an overview how app development works really after making your own app. You will face a lot of things, complications in setting up your coding environment that redirects to lot of experiences which is definitely helpful for you as a developer scope. Even a simple project, like To-do list, can be complicated and being pro by adding more features and complexity as you become more comfortable with app development. If you're excited about building a to-do list app, go for it! It's a fantastic way to continue building your skills and confidence as a developer. And remember, don't be afraid to start small and iterate as you go. Good luck!
