Graphic design is a discipline that has a primary focus on front-end / visual components. It's a broad term that is used In conjunction with art.

Generative AI is on one hand, an AI, and on the other is one that is used to create new data. This doesn't have to be visual but popular ones like Midjourney are visual by creating images from text.

So they are very different but you could use generative AI in graphic design if you wanted to.
