Is Android Studio GUI based?

Question

So far I am using Eclipse for development purposes. My job function is code maintenance. Recently I have been involved in a demo app creation for an academic institution. I am wondering if Android Studio is better choice. PS: I will be working with students who may or may not have programming knowledge.
