Are you Afraid of losing?

If you afraid of losing, don't be! The reason of all the challenges on this app (and also on the real life) is to make you learn! you can learn from them even if you fail, I have to admit that I was afraid, but then I realized that if I don't practice how would I learn? and then I started to learn from my errors... if I lose I can go back and see all the right answers and with that information I can analyze the problem and learn from it, I have to say that for me some challenges needs more time since I'm a beginner on some curses, but that doesn't matter anymore for me. If I want to be a good developer, than is ok to fail. Quote: "Forget about the consequences of failure. Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success." Good luck to everyone learning here, this is just the beginning, helping others will help you more!

If doing challenges everyday would make me a better programmer, then yes. Heck, I'd stay home everyday just to do it and my colleagues may start thinking that I got kidnapped or died somewhere. However, at some point I began to realise that doing challenges won't necessarily make you a better programmer; It would make you a better challenger for sure. Following the realisation, I've retired from challenges and now opt for coding katas which test and strain your practical coding skills.

I do agree with you.... I started to do challenges too and I was afraid because I can lose 32 XP... But I thought without trying, I would never win, and also if I fail, I will win experience and knowledge because we can all learn from mistakes! *_*

Well I agree with that. But heck, I asked for programming challange but not arithmetic, mental calculation challange. Not bragging or anything but... It takes me about 5second to anaylase a small simple block of code and understand its algorithim quick But, man it still takes me ~10second to calculate (17 + 5) So hell no I am doing challanges on sololearn, I mean, calculator exists for a reason. Still prefer codewars and also helping other programmers on Discord and other social media *cough* stackoverflow.

@Manual I do stuff posted by people on Discord, granted free time. Too much work to maintain another profile in a different site. :>

Yeah, that's right . You will never learn if you never fail. If you fail many times ,then you will succeed many times. You should not be afraid.

@Hatsy makes sense. I am new to solving code katas I have tried katas on hackerrank and codewars recently. It is a work in progress. I use C++ and have been using C libraries along with it. I find them challenging, but, I enjoy doing them.

The problem is not that I'm afraid of failure. The goal of the challenges is to make you think fast the outcome of some snippet or some statement related to programming, the rewards? Extra XP. But when you start challenge for some days, you get nothing of XP in draws, 1XP on wins and you lose more than 30XP if you lose. This means you have to win (find an opponent that accepts your challenge, and you win the challenge) but 30 times at least, to overcome your only lost you had... Then you think, it's better to practice my programming skills... with code

If you want to gain, try challenging those at higher levels, you will get new questions and there are bonuses for challenging someone at a level quite higher than yours. You won't loose much Xps but you will gain.

I'm not afraid of losing...I'm fine with that..cuz we learn something from that,we know we're wrong and we can make it better with study and course😊im still beginner so still dont take any challenges but I will take it after I finished my course😁, cuz I guess we need to know it first then we can take a challenge to see if we can do it or still need to learn more😊..if we're losing its okay..it means we still need to learn it again, maybe we can learn it from discussion etc,or can repeat the course..and if we're win so thats good...but still need to practice it again so we can't forget it and..don't forget to learn new things too😁👍❤ good luck everyone!!😊

@Michael Isac Girardi we need to do our best effort, challenge others and of course give SL feedback about bad answers, I always mark bad answers, in the same day more than 10 times. Obviously SL must to change the way to do/accept quizzes

thanks for this piece @Joanna guess I'll start challenges soon enough @Hatsy, how do I go about the coding katas? I'm really interested. I ve not really done any practical work since o started learning... part of why I've not participated in any challenge.
