Kotlin and Java?

Question

So can someone explain? Is Kotil something like an addition? Or something completely new. I've just finished the Java course and I'm a bit confused... I assume that the question has been asked a lot already, sorry

It's just due to the conflict between Android and Oracle .Android tries to use another language for its development.

Hence kotlin has been named as their development language.

It's new .
similar to Oop concepts.
Android studio converts codes written in java to kotlin and wise versa by a single button click .
