If I want to learn Ruby or python then which language I should lean first and why ?

If you're just starting to code I would learn Ruby because it's much more user friendly for beginners. If you have some experience already, go with Python.

IMHO you should learn Python first because you can implement it in scrypts and small programs right away.

And Ruby.. Ruby is love and magic) But it is basically for WEB frameworks such as RubyOnRails, Sinatra.. Actually you can make interesting things with Ruby too but generally learning Ruby is diving into WEB programming.
