Why Sololearn members don't like based on the code usability?
Unfortunately, I see that valuable codes' likes are less than others. I think this would not be. For example, when you see tending codes, you see codes with low advantage; like some games. I don't want to tell that those codes are useless. But please pay attention to this. Thanks! :)

Hi @Mohammad, games are in trending because they create interaction with the user, for me... i appeciate any type of code and not just games, i have no need of super output for appreciate it, but i can understand why people prefer games to other kind of codes.
I'm honest, i understand all your post except for... "valuable codes", i mean, there are lots of awesome codes without popularity, they deserve it and i'm absolutely agree with you... but "valuable codes" is a subjective choice.
Thank you for this thread, i found it very interesting and in most points our point of view are pretty similar. :)

i don't expect code to be of any specified quality because we have users at all levels learning at their own pace.
I believe that expecting too much and labeling user_input as acceptable or non-acceptable will severely inhibit user_participation.
Everyone gives Likes to what they like which can vary Widely. As an example, i give Likes liberally mostly for Encouragement.
HelloWorld codes will get a Like from me.. If you are an experienced user and you published a standard HelloWorldCode i will give you a Like with No_ expectation regarding your particular level or quality that i think should be appropriate.
When i get Likes i Do feel good and i appreciate all of them.. i savor that moment and just FeelGood but before moving on i remind myself to take it as pure encouragement because i know that my code wasn't worth anything but Much_needed_Encouragement.
We don't need to look good in comparison to other sites.
This is only my personal opinion.

i understand your concerns but there's no fair way to compare all of the users together. Each user is different and can be rated according to what they do.. and even then what would be the sense of having a strict grading system? i know that there are many users who will look over their shoulders and say 'how come so_and_so got a Like for that and I didn't get a Like?'.
i think that is an inherent factor where people are involved. If we are here to Learn we should use the resources available to do just that. Our Energy spent on other concerns becomes non-available to us.

Yep, non-web codes need ❤️, too ;)
What can you do, man - people judge according to their liking, no reason to be blamed for ;)

@Maz Thanks for your reply. I mean valuable codes are codes with more useability. Also, your definition is a part of my think.
I'm sad for this. Not for more likes, but... We can't do anything more; can we? (I'm agree with Kuba's speech).
@Kuba You said a part of my target; a big part! Thank you!

Games are also particularly difficult to code compared to a lot of the stuff on here and are usually appreciated by their audience.
Another problem I notice it's all very well expecting people to code useful things for free, and maybe that's fine for younger people... However, I am older and have bills to pay; if I don't want to end up moving back in with my dad for an eternity and using a half broken laptop with a fu(oo?)bared screen until it finally gives up the ghost completely and I'm left with nothing to code, on I can't spend a week creating some interesting code just to put it up on a forum for other people to stick their name on it later and get a zillion upvotes for.
So I create most of my code closed source for paying clients, and the more *useful* it is, the less likely I am to post it anywhere publicly until it's already been superceeded. So maybe I'll post coding experiments in languages I'm just getting to grips with but I certainly won't be posting anything of quality for nothing until I have enough to get by comfortably myself.
When I have enough the money it isn't such a big factor or I am no longer making most of my income from coding then things might be different but at the same time I would be mindful of people, particularly junior coders, being exploited by rich companies in the open source community and would not wish to contribute high quality code for free without a very good reason as I would see this as unfair competition with people who may be struggling with what can be a tough journey initially.
I wonder if a competition for code writing, with a time limit for completion, specific criteria for the app and a signifìcant cash prize at the end would increase the code quality.

@Mohammed you mean most people don't really care what code went into producing something, they just want something fun?

@Peter Carter
I got you.
But the problem is not to write good or bad codes. The problem is people interests. Most of your speech is correct (most because I am not as old as you, based on your say), but I have a big problem with SoloLearners' look to every code. I think most of the people (whether young or not) don't look at the code, they just want a very cute output!
Can you get me?

@Randall Young
Your opinion is great. I admire you. I agree with you. But there are some problems:
A person who is in high levels, worked hard to be a top level user and a person who is in low levels, is working hard to be better and better. This is obvious.
So, don't we pay attention to high level users more than low level ones? Shouldn't they get rate by their efforts? Why in the football tournaments don't get medal to weeker teams, just to the three best?
Another problem is that anyone at any levels can have "creativity". Can't users in low levels create a better and different codes instead of the Hello_World and such codes?
In a higher level, there is such problem. Why a person with (for example) gold medal creates a usual code with no "creativity"?
The last problem is people don't look at the codes, just score the output. This is a guess, but a strong guess based on my experiences.
I saw the problems that I tell. I saw a bronze medal user posts some great codes, but their likes are 1, 2 or 3 (plus my like) and a gold medal user shares a code that its output is very simple but it gives much more likes.

Got you, but I created this post to get user attentions to become cleverer users!
Thanks for your comments! Your comments are great... :)
