Build a portfolio so that you can show off your knowledge and skills, you don't need a degree for that.

I know a guy who used to rant on forums and got a job writing through that. Just putting yourself out there and putting in the grind

I had colleges without degree. Some companies don't need degree but knowledge, others have policy that degree is needed to apply for a job.
