What is the use of adding comments if one can't see it in output

They are used to explain some function or working of the code. You can always make your code more friendly to beginners by adding comments which would help them understand how a particular part of code works.

Just to add something - making comments in HTML may seem as going a bit too far in this, but it's still a good practice to maintain.
