What is the difference between web developer and web designer ?

A Web Designer designs the look and feel of the website and/or page to give the users a visual experience, whereas a Web Developer puts together the code to make the site functionality.

I am wondering the same. Perhaps web developer is more focused on web app development (Java, PHP, MySQL) and web designer on HTML, CSS and Javascript, basically structure, design and behaviour of web pages? Just a guess. :)

a designer designs form, chooses layouts, creates images and Designs the experience and ambiance of a web site.
a developer actually puts the code to the page and makes it work under the hood.
We ultimately want to be able to do both. hope this helps!

developer works directly with the content, the designer just makes choices about how the project should be done and what it needs to be more interesting.
