Anyone have a favorite prototyping strategy?

I was wondering if anyone had any favorite prototyping methods or strategies. Maybe you create lists out of sticky notes, organize your thoughts on a Google Doc, or have a white board for drawing out abstract concepts, etc. Anything you use might be handing and I'm trying to hone my prototyping process for developing programs, so I can streamline my coding process.

Prototyping is why I suggest everyone Know Python. Any complicated method I need to workout for a Java project or C# project, I first workout in Python for its speed and ease of use.
