as a beginner you should write everything down, this helps you remember & understand coding. Also keep rereading it & when you have completed a course there is a quiz over on www.w3schools.com,. Most(if not all) of the languages are covered over there.

Solo learn doesn't give all the knoledge about any field. But it is better for a beginner to learn all the fields. It is up to you to widen your skills furthermore.
