How to win PHP challenges?

Could you advice some media to learn PHP in more detail, because in challenges I always get questions about things, which I did not have in the course.

PHP course covers the basics of programming in general and just one module is dedicated to the singularities of this language, definitely one of the most incomplete courses, here you can found a complete PHP reference: http://php.net/manual/en/index.php

PS - You should report quizzes that ask for things not covered in the course, but at the same time take in consideration that the PHP course has not so much material and make quizzes with just some basic loop and conditions would be ridiculous.

@Maz thank you for your great answer. Btw, quizzes were ok, but challenges include some tricky questions from other more advanced users, so that's why it's hard to win the opponent sometimes. But now I noticed that there is a limited amount of questions for each course, so they just repeat again and again. Therefore I agree that it is not a proper way to learn language. But, for starters, it may have a sense :)
