A Linux machine hosting a Windows virtual box. Or the other way round. Dual booting unnecessarily gets in the way.

Linux has more system view , high security and durability usually for technical people. Windows has more user view ,less security and less durable (crashes) usually for non-technical people who hate command uses and prefer GUI . your choice 😉😉

Lemme just answer a couple answers above first... BSD is okay but nothing compared to the big boys and DOS well I hope you were joking... Windows is good but it has too many problems... Use Linux Mint or Linux LXLE if your computer is slow. Ditch Windows, buy if you HAVE to keep it, dual boot. VMs are not too great

It all depends on what you need to use. Linux is a great OS and far more versatile than windows but lacks some major software for professional use. For example fotoshop and office don't have a valid alternative in Linux. Administration of clients is also far easier in Windows with its group policies and a active dir. Linux minded as I am I must admit that Mickeysoft is catching up and improving it's OS. And maybe that's the real way in which Linux shines, in showing Windows what a solid OS looks like. I'll stick to Linux for now.
