Do you as a software developer have fun in your job? How's your job routine and what exactly do you do?

This question is directed specifically to those that have an actual job on computer programming, software developing or engineering. I'm very interested in this line of work and I'm currently studying a CS degree. I want to know how a programmer's daily routine is and how fun it can be. Does it ever get boring? How much creativity are you able to use and how much influence do you feel you're doing. Id love some advice, I'll gladly appreciate it since it'll help my interest in the field grow bigger.

Some developers I know love their job. Others just do it as a job.

It varies depending on your environment. Just one aspect, for example, is whether you are working in a startup, large corporation, or somewhere in between. Additionally the culture of the company varies as well. Working a government job will be much different than working at Google. All jobs are different and the best way to see what a particular place is like is to read reviews from current or past employees at sites like Glassdoor.
