Seriously, it'll always simply depend upon you as the student. How willing are you to learn? What are you willing to do to learn it? How capable are you at learning?

There are some simply realities with all of this. First off, not everyone has the mind of a programmer. Does that mean they can't learn? No. It just means they'll take a lot longer to learn than someone that naturally has that logical programmer mind. Equally so, just like with ANY subject, not everyone learns quickly or in the same ways. Some people can read a language and understand it that way, many others need to practice it hands-on to understand it.

When I say "how willing are you," I'm referring to how much time/effort/persistence you're planning to put toward this. What's more important to you? TV? Facebook? Games? Friends? Your phone? etc... If those things consume the majority of your time, then that's all of the time you're not putting toward your success. I heard someone say before, "You have to be willing to sacrifice who you are TODAY for who you will become TOMORROW."

However, this is the process that I use to learn quickly and effective. I read through the language, even if I don't fully understand it while reading it the first time. Afterward, I practice what I just learned to the best of my ability. Then I read through the language again, but this time I take notes of anything I still don't understand yet. When I'm done, I go and I research the things I didn't understand. Afterward, I practice with the things I didn't understand. I rinse & repeat that process until I master the language.
