How would the website would be sold ?

I am a CS student of final year, I learnt HTML CSS and JavaScript. I want to know, if I started developing websites, how would it be sold ? I mean if i use external CSS then both the documents would be sold ? I mean please tell me the process what files I would send to the customer ? I know its a ponderous and stupid question but still I want to know.
