Not 'wamp' and not 'camp': so, maybe 'lamp'? ;P
In these accronyms, the 'a' stand for 'apache', 'm' for mySql and 'p' for Php... first letter target OS ('w' for window, 'l' linux, 'c'... I don't know ^^), because to run Php codes you need to install at least a server (Apache is one, but there's others) even locally and Php... and optionally a database system (mySql is one, but there's also others)...
The main advantage of using '_amp' is to simplify installation/configuration of server: if you don't want them because you've failed to install one of them, you would most probably failed to do it by installing each required components by yourself ^^

Well, and downvoting now... I guess it's also a mistake :P

Why did you set the best answer tick on my answer and then retrieve it? @@
