Can you apply a gradient to the body of the page

I had wanted to apply the gradient to the entirety of the page, but I don't know if I'm supposed to put in specific measurements of use a specific type of code?

would love to see results of this come forward. I know there is a way to make text gradient, but I want to find a mannerism to div out some more in depth gradient work, even quantifying values. as for your query, I'd say try something like putting the gradient in the background color? but I am struggling with this issue as well. good luck!
