Java, why is the answer 17 on the 2nd question of the quiz in module 3?

Question

It doesn't make sense at all, i mean, the way i understood it was that as 'i' increments, it will soon be larger than 3 and then it won't be equal to 10 anymore because of the 'else' statement but will be equal to 5, how is it then that 17 is the answer instead?
