Tomorrow i will be starting Java as a course on some collage, what efforts should i put in to get most out of the study?

try to understand the design patterns and paradigm that language addresses. polymorphism, encapsulation, abstraction, inheritance. Then learn the main apis and never give up. keep coding

practice, learn with passion, don't rely only on college you have internet use it.
make small program for calculations like for powers, factorial, compound interest, etc.
don't use IDE in the begining.
