Hello, the comments tag <!--my comment here-->. I don't get it, should that appear on the webpage or what? and if not what's the point of adding it?

The comment will not appear on the webpage. The point is that you don't have to remember what you wrote and other people will be easier to understand your code.

One purpose of comments is to make the program/ code easy to understand. When you are working in a team of developers or other people are accessing your code; so that they can understand what function the code is performing. Also in lengthy programs comments may prove useful while the coder checking his/ hers code.
Comments don't appear on the web page.
