Using SoloLearn to supplement teaching

Question

I teach introduction to programming to college students. Any ideas on how to use SoloLearn to help students learn better and be more engaged?

Another way to involve a class group : create a collective account on sololearn (with a name like "--college name-- team" or else so that other SL users would know).
And ask them to participate helping alltogether the profile to progress : writing some codes, asking and answering questions, coding for challenges, etc ...).
Competition is a good tool, but with some groups I feel it's also very efficient to push them into a collective feeling. This way there would be a competition for a collective goal, like ... in a boat or something.
Looking collectively at the results can give a very satisfying group energy.

You can ask them to participate in code challenges and give them credit for making a code which became Code Of the Day

Andi. Yes. I believe this feature (follow) is currently only available on the android version of the application.

Oh, and I forgot : using this idea of a group SL id, you could ask your students to create questions for the pvp challenges ... they are really needed, and creating questions is a very good way to learn.

I'm also using this site to promote their learning. I monitor their progress regularly using their user id. You can tell them to create their account following a fixed format.

On top of what Koo said, you can also make these challenges extra credit!

If I'm not wrong, you can see the progress of someone you follow, so you monitor it that way.

Also, you can make each "bubble" part of the curriculum. I wouldn't require 17 sub sections before a deadline but I believe that, used in very generous moderation, this would be cool as well.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I cannot find any 'follow' button anywhere in my desktop or my iPhone. Is seems that this function is only available for android users. Am I right?

Please teach them how to ask good questions. With good I mean wellformed and good explanation of want they want to know.
Good use of tags, good title and good body.

You could show them the names of all of the courses in Sololearn .

A very fast lesson requiring minimal effort on your part and would also show them how vast the world of programming will be.

Inviting them here and challenging them wouldn't be a good idea considering you have 13 xp in java. They won't respect you. I've taught college students before. A bunch of know it all narcissistic millennials.

You can challenge them, whom gets more Badget, and give them credit for it
