What are you good at? Technically *and* conceptually. Or what are you really interested in? I'm asking this because I'm convinced that the good project results come from knowledge and motivation. Smarts and motivation are also a good combination as then you use your smarts to become knowledgeable while you do the project. Or maybe knowledge, smarts *and* motivation? That might be over the top :-)

I will not suggest some as choosing the project by yourself will much more likely ensure that you are happy with it and therefore motivated (resulting in a better grade). If you need some ideas for general domains you can refer to the revised list from my second post.

Ok this is the answer to the technical part of my question. Being interested should ensure you are motivated. Therefore: what drives you, what gives incentive to program? Any domain you want to write a program in (robotics, finance, real-time systems, healthcare, simulation, aircraft, biology, astronomy etc.)?

Ok, no problem. I hope I could help as this is my actual intent. Apart from some basic domain ideas to broaden your view (which I put in one of my answers) you must be happy with it. It might also be a good idea to ask coworkers or other student in your class that know you better to get some suggestions.
