When are you ready for a programming job?

I am going to school for programming, learning c++, Java, HTML, and more, but I would like to try to get a job in the software development field before I graduate. How much knowledge/expertise do I need before I start looking for intern-level positions? I don’t want to start looking before I am ready, but I am anxious to get into the field.

You can check job description for intern level, and check for popular interview questions. If everything looks familiar and you have no problem answering most of questions, you can try. There are no other way to check are you ready or not.
