Do you lose xp points when you lose a challenge?

yes there is a answer bonus which is always gain and match points which is gain if you win or loss if you loose.

Why if the challenge winner gets 6 XP when you lost they take you 25XP, not 6XP?

No I once gained some points by losing.
Answer bonus > match score. 😁😁
But yes on losing it is sure you will lose match points.
