Rowspan usuage

How and where do you use the attribute ‘rowspan’? If so, is it useful, and is it used often? Thanks. Edit: Can I just highlight the key words ‘useful’ and ‘often’ please. You have answered the first part of my question (which I already knew) but the second part, still hasn’t been answered. Can they be answered? Thanks...

Use rowspan if you want to extend cells down.
