and To add to what @DH'S said . you can write apps for each platform individually and if u later wanted to share ur app on other platforms , xamrain let u do that easily.

and they have a very good resources to learn it
just go to xamarin university

if we write code in c#.then it is now easy to run on any platform as we want .
