it is used for presentation of text. the markup language specifies code for formating in both layout and style in a text file ..The code which is used to specify the formating is called tags. best is html it is widely used so we run our html by tags

Indeed, it's the language used for web pages; It has "tags" you don't see that "mark up" text and tell the web browser how that text is to be displayed, whether it is a link, what happens when a mouse rolls over it, how to display pictures and menus, etc. Markup languages are designed for the processing, definition and presentation of text. The language specifies code for formatting, both the layout and style, within a text file. The code used to specify the formatting are called tags. HTMLis a an example of a widely known and used markup language.
