I suggest you to use Mint or Debian.

You can use applications on a Linux distribution specified for mobile development, rather than installing a totally new distribution for Android development. You can use Mint, Ubuntu, etc; as long as you can get the right software. Mint and Ubuntu are the most user friendly. 👍 I personally use Kali Linux, for development and penetration testing.

I recommend ElementaryOS. It's built on top of Debian and Ubuntu, with a really beautiful user interface (a little bit like macOS). It's beginner friendly, but it also has all the advanced features you'd expect from a modern Linux distribution. You can take a look here: https://elementary.io Btw, even though it looks like you need to pay for it, you can get elementary for free by entering 0 into the price box.

I use Ubuntu ( currently 17.10) my self for coding & development tasks for years and have been using android studio recently effortlessly, although mobile emulator gives my 4 GB ram hard times😅. I feel foolish to ask this but can anyone share a good link explaining in short the terms distro , Debian , the Linux variations etc
